Extra Curricular Activities

Prime Time

Prime Time is an after school program for students in first through sixth grade. Students attend one session each week (Tuesdays for 1st- 3rd and Wednesdays for 4th - 6th). The program is focused on prevention by providing students with quality after school programming that gives students exposure to a variety of experiences in the arts, STEM, recreational activities, and more. The goal is to help students establish passions for healthy life activities that serve as a deterrent for unhealthy choices as they enter their teenage years. A snack and drink are provided. There are a total of twenty-one sessions throughout the school year. Prime Time also offers tutoring, mentoring, a character education lesson focused on our Claws of Responsibility, educational computer games, recreational and art activities.

3D Printing

The Basin School District hosts a 3D printing club after school in the fall and sends a team each year to the Idaho Exhibition of Ideas in November. Students collaborate to solve a real-world problem, learn 3D printing and fabrication, and present their ideas and designs at competition. In previous years, Basin teams have placed 4th, 2nd, 1st and have received the Student Choice Award.

Basin First Lego League Robotics

First Lego League (FLL) is an engaging way for students to practice STEM and solve real world problems as a team. It is a fun opportunity for students to learn and build confidence in STEM, engineering, collaboration, and problem solving. The Basin team has until early December to build our LEGO robots, program them and put together a research project that is connected to the theme of “Engergize” (this year’s FLL focus). Around Dec. 4th, we will go to Boise to compete against other teams in the Treasure Valley and perform our skills in front of judges!
